One of the last couture workshops left in the world, Maison Lesage is a venerable atelier specializing in embroidery for major fashion houses of the early 20th century with the likes of Elsa Schiaperalli to current day Chanel.
The trim of this rare example was made for a coat by one of the first couturiers, Paul Poiret, and has now been applied to 19th century silk velvet. Every stitch and bead is applied by hand in true couture craft. Items like this are a reminder of the slowly vanquishing artisans known as “petites mains”. Metallic linen back. Pair available.
